Scope Of Work

This project was very complex and required a detailed submittal process with product development through a series of mock ups and establishment of quality control procedures, and working closely with a concrete patching manufacturer to develop a custom color product.

Repair and alteration project includes construction services to repair the existing concrete façade at the Santa Ana Federal Building due to spalling of the concrete at various locations. There were approximately 750 sq feet of repairs on all 4 sides of the building.

The project involved the design of a concrete mix and precise mixing procedures in compliance with project specifications to match existing building materials of a pre-cast exposed aggregate light weight concrete curtain wall façade. The concrete design was then used to patch spalling concrete at various locations on the façade of the 9 story building.

The process involved cleaning the façade, chipping existing concrete from a swing stage, installing new rebar, forming and pouring concrete. There were about 5 different details of repair depending on the location, replacement of corroded rebar, coating and epoxy work. After 48 hrs the patch was ground to match existing finish.

At completion of concrete repair, the patches were stained to further blend the exterior finish to match existing.

The final phase was to apply a water repellant sealer to the entire façade.

Fasone worked closely with project Engineers, WJE who inspected each repair and advised on any differing conditions repair.

The project was very complicated and required an intense safety program implementation. The project involved notice and coordination with all building tenants.
