Current focus: Green Passive Residential and Commercial - including Mega tall Office buildings anywhere in the world. As always, smaller Passive buildings for commercial and residential are primary focus. New attempt is to create a flexible refugee campus city to house up to 100 000 of thousands people system. The idea came to me 4/9 2016.

Tapani Talo was born in Finland 1950 and designed his first house at the age 14. As a teenager he was self-employed as a press and fashion photographer (also from the age of 14), and employed as a congress technician and sound engineer at the Dipoli Conference Center from the age of 17. Two album covers for John Mayall, Turning Point and USA Union, brought him international attention. From 1973 to 1977, while based on London, Mr. Talo worked with the Rolling Stones as a sound engineer at their Mobile Studio, recording them and other leading Rock and Roll bands of the time. During that time he studied as an architect at the North East London Polytechnic (with their 'avant garde' Green program), graduating with honors. Beginning in these years and continuing as a lifelong pursuit, he has dedicated extensive study to art museums, painting, photography and art as both a hobby and as an intellectual corner stone for architecture and real practice of it.
Architecture
Since moving to the U.S. in 1977, he graduated with honors from Ball State University and has worked with Master Architects like Edward Larrabee Barnes, Philip Johnson and Steven Holl – on projects ranging from custom residential to class A commercial high rise office buildings, retail, museums and galleries, airports, and sports projects. He has also had his own practice since 1984 NY Super Studio Architects (global company name) – now in USA called Talo - Green Passive Architect – with the same range of projects. Tapani is dedicated to ensuring projects have a “green emphasis” in order to quietly double the energy efficiency of standard code requirement(s) and realize tremendous long term savings.
Amongst his published and exhibited work, the 1st prize for the New York Waterfront International Competition 1988 is the most notable achievement.
Tapani is also currently working on a book to guide developers and laymen alike toward a better way of using architects, not only for better class A design, but to ensure more environmentally sustainable design. This will be illustrated to most part with his own photographs. It is also based around the effort to wake up governments worldwide to the lost potential of architects, engineers and planners to develop more sustainable infrastructure and architecture. With just a little common sense, we can make the entire world sustainable, with small legislative changes in how we allocate depreciation and support good available local knowledge.
In USA we waste about a Trillion dollars worth of energy each year with current Codes and methods. So we have a long way to go ...
Tapani Talo has been Photographer and Painter since 1964. In the past decade he has had some local photography shows about Rock and Roll as well as nature images , and in addition sold images in Sotheby's and Bonhams auction houses.
