Robert Munoz's Bio
As a paratrooper in the Army’s 82nd Airborne, Robert Munoz understood very well that details mattered. Overlooking a detail could be devastating to himself, to his team, and to the mission. After nine years in the Army, Robert decided to transition to a civilian career. That transition led him in various directions, from a lineman to a production manager in the food manufacturing industry. They were great experiences, but Robert knew his destiny was yet to be determined, the full use of his best skills yet to be employed. His happy place would eventually be found as a Commercial Estimator & Project Manager at Schultz Lawnscapes. Robert joined the company in May 2022.
As a Commercial Estimator & Project Manager, Robert understands very well that details matter. In this position, Robert creates customer proposals for large general contractors in the Hampton Roads region. When Schultz is awarded a contract, he plans the resources needed, determines the phasing in of materials during installation, manages the installation crews, and performs the final inspection. Robert manages the entire project, from proposal to completion. He is responsible for quality control at every step. It’s in his skillful management of details that Robert is able to create positive outcomes for his team, his customers, and the Schultz Lawnscapes organization.
When asked about his favorite projects thus far, Robert reveals, “I have a lot of fun working on really big commercial projects. It’s exciting to see projects from start to finish, manage all of the moving parts and details, and really use my creativity to make the best decisions along the way.”
He says the most challenging projects are those at military installations. There are double and triple security checks for the Schultz crews, additional quality controls, background checks, and a bit more paperwork involved.
Robert was born in California, raised in New Mexico, attended college where he ran Division I cross country and track, joined the Army, and since then has lived all over the country. He is now happily settled at Schultz Lawnscapes, and we are happy to have him as a member of the team! In his spare time, Robert enjoys is spending time with his wife Stephanie and children Mathew and Brooklyn Grace.

Finance & Accounting
Karen Howerton's Bio
Sometimes a door of opportunity opens and you just know it must have opened for you. That’s the way Karen Howerton feels about her new job at Schultz Lawnscapes. After working in the accounting department at Meadowbrook County Club for many years, she was in the mood for a change but hadn’t yet begun an active search.
Then one day in late 2020, Karen just happened to see a job announcement for an accounting associate at Schultz Lawnscapes in Waverly. It caught her eye, not only because it was an opportunity within her field, but also because her husband had fished with Corey and knew a little bit about the company. Plus, she knew the Waverly area pretty well! Karen had been living in McKenney, VA in Dinwiddie County since 1987, but had spent all of her school years at Tidewater Academy and had grown up in Stony Creek.
Karen couldn’t help but be intrigued by this potential opportunity, so she quickly assembled a resume and hit it the “send” button. Yes, she was intrigued, but she never thought she’d actually get a call to come for an interview. But she did. And the rest is history. Karen’s first day at Schultz was January 4, 2021. She spends her days working on accounts receivables and payables, banking, and some general ledger functions for the company. And she loves it! Karen looks forward to continuing to grow in her position and take on additional duties in the future.
What’s the best thing about working at Schultz Lawnscapes? Karen enthusiastically says, “I absolutely love how supportive and appreciative Corey, Wilson, and Sherri are. Every single day, without fail, they tell me how much they appreciate what I do. It’s a wonderful place to work!”
Sherri Olson's Bio
In the late 1980's, three students met on a yellow school bus. On Mrs. Diggs’ bus 22, Sherri Olson travelled to and from school with Corey and Wilson Schultz. When their days riding together on Mrs. Digg’s school bus came to a close, they had no idea that their paths were destined to cross again two decades later at Schultz Lawnscapes.
It was in 2010 that Sherri Olson began to work part time for Corey and Wilson, assisting with accounts receivables and payables for Schultz Lawnscapes. Weekly team meetings for the company were held around her kitchen table.
By 2013, Sherri had gotten pretty accustomed to hearing “Sherri! Can you….”, and finding herself replying “Yes, will do!” With her can-do work ethic and bookkeeping skills, Sherri quickly became an invaluable member of the Schultz Lawnscapes’ team. Her part time job became full time employment. One Schultz staff member fondly gave her the title Controller because she efficiently managed on a daily basis not only the bookkeeping but also the entire office. If there was office work to be done, Sherri did it.
Over time Sherri’s role evolved, and in 2021 she has assumed the role of Executive Assistant at Schultz. She is immersed now in company operations, assisting with scheduling, dispatching, and logistics. Sherri says, “It’s an exciting new challenge, and I look forward to coming to work every single day.” Her job at Schultz is the best job she’s ever had, she loves her co-workers, and she appreciates the great benefits that Schultz Lawnscapes provides its employees.
On Mrs. Diggs’ bus 22, three students became friends. Today they’re like family, the Schultz Lawnscapes family, working hard every day to provide beautiful lawns and landscapes for their customers.
