Joe Skaar is one of the Principal Agents at NorthTech Insurance.  He has teamed up with his long-time friend of over 25 years, Timothy Newton, in founding the agency.  Joe has owned and operated his own business for 20 years.  He started Northland Irrigation in 1999 and built the company from 1 employee to what is known today as “NorthTech Irrigation” with over 40 employees working for him.  NorthTech Irrigation currently services over 3500 residential clients and several large commercial accounts.  Based upon the success of his company, Joe was able to start MSP Outdoors in 2013 with 2 other business owners.  MSP Outdoors is a commercial contracting business in the metro area.  The success of Joe’s business endeavors and the reputation he has established with his current clients allows his customers to trust in his ability to provide them with the best options for their insurance needs.Joe has been married to his beautiful wife, Jennifer, for 14 years.  Joe and his wife are busy with their three boys Joey, Jack and Jacob.  They are involved in multiple sports including: hockey, baseball, football, and soccer.  Joe enjoys coaching both baseball and football for his boys in his spare time.  He also is a member of the Booster Board and is on the Baseball Committee.  When Joe has free time, he enjoys hunting and spending time on his snowmobile.

Timothy Newton is one of the Principal agents at NorthTech Insurance.   He has teamed up with co-founder and friend of over 25 years, Joe Skaar.   Tim has been a licensed agent in the community since 2007.  He began his career in the industry working for the Zignego Agency in Lake Elmo from 2007-2012.  Tim furthered his career by working at Eagle Point Insurance from 2012 to the 2018. Tim is excited to be able to be a part of his own agency with NorthTech Insurance.  He is optimistic about being able to utilize the relationships he has developed throughout his years in the industry and the technology he has access to, in order to offer his customers an efficient and competitive price for their insurance needs.Tim has been a MIIAB(Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association) member in the East Metro Region since 2012.  He serves as the current President for the East Metro Area.  In his role as President, Tim has been able to further his insurance career and meet other industry professionals during his time in this role.  Tim has been able to travel to Washington DC as recent as the Spring of 2018 to work with Legislators, Congressmen and Lobbyists on behalf of Independent Insurance Agents in MN. Prior to his insurance career Tim spent 12 years as a computer programmer.

In his spare time, Tim enjoys spending time with his 3 children John, Natalie, and Zach.  He enjoys coaching baseball, spending time on the golf course, working out, and snowmobiling to survive the long MN winters.  Tim is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time watching MN sports team whenever time allows.

Dave Clymer is the newest team member of NorthTech Insurance. For the past 16 years, Dave has worked in the technology industry,
specifically in the areas of Business Continuance and Disaster Recovery. His roles have included National Account Manager, Value Added Reseller and Channel Manager. Dave’s attention to excellent customer service is evidenced by him being the leader in customer retention for the past 10 years with the company Metiix. As a NorthTech client, you can be confident that Dave will provide you with this same level of personal care.

Prior to his work with technology, Dave was in the teaching and coaching profession. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University where he was an All-American wrestler, student coach and a member of the Prestigious Athletes Counsel.

Raised in Hastings, MN, Dave currently resides in Hudson, WI with his wife of 18 years and their two boys. He stays involved in the community through coaching youth football and wrestling. In his spare time, Dave enjoys fishing, golfing and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the NDSU Bison and the MN Vikings.
