Berglund Construction

Fred Berglund is President of Berglund Construction and represents third-generation leadership. Fred has been in the family business his entire life. Since assuming leadership of Berglund in 1995, he is actively overseeing the growth of the company. Fred is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for La Rabida Children’s Hospital and is past President of the Chicago Building Congress (CBC). He has is an active member of the Economic Club of Chicago, Builders Association of the Greater Chicago and the CBC.

As Vice President, Jeff is client-focused, developing new business and ensuring high levels of satisfaction among current clients. Based out of our Chesterton office, Jeff oversees all safety and quality, operations, preconstruction, business development, and marketing throughout the Hoosier and Buckeye States.

As Sr. Estimator, Chad works closely with our project team to solicit subcontractor pricing, develop detailed estimates and prepare highly competitive GMP’s. Chad assists the Director of Preconstruction in budgeting all projects and assists with construction document reviews, defining contractors’ scope of services, identifying appropriate subcontractors for bidding, soliciting and reviewing all bids and preparing contract drafts.

As Director of Operations, Alex ensures his high standard of operational excellence permeates every project in the Indiana region. This includes setting strategic goals for operational performance and recommending solutions for improvement. Alex works with all Indiana project managers to set financial and budgetary plans for their projects.

When he's not on the jobsite or at the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting or fishing.

Erin Deal started her career at Berglund as an intern and is now working as an Assistant Project Manager out of the Indiana Office. She is assisting on projects such as Porter Hospital - PET/CT Scan MOB Suite, Blue Chip Casino Convention Center and The Caring Place. Erin has a seven year old son and enjoys traveling in her free time.

With a background in architecture, Jeff brings important skills, knowledge and leadership to both Berglund’s restoration and building divisions. Jeff has been a project leader for our construction team’s restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple in Oak Park. His work has included oversight of structural concrete repairs, plaster restoration, roofing, skylights, and art glass restoration. “The process of building can be difficult, frustrating and uneven,” he says. “Step back from time to time to appreciate the importance of that effort."

As Special Projects Manager, Kevin leads, manages, and executes key company initiatives at projects across the company. These initiatives span safety, quality, production, innovation, and communication. Collaborating with Restoration Division President Jack Tribbia, Kevin’s main areas of focus are on self-perform work and yard activities. A tuck pointer by trade, Kevin is hands-on in ensuring operational excellence flows through all levels of the company.

Michael is an assistant project manager in Berglund’s Restoration Division. Michael is responsible the oversight of his projects, driving the day-to-day communication on each of his projects with the owners, architects and engineers. He documents submittals, RFIs and change orders, and he maintains the cost and schedule tracking systems on each of his projects. One of his favorite things about working at Berglund is the dedication the company has toward safety and quality.

Jennifer is on our accounting team in our South Chicago location. Her areas of expertise include guaranteed maximum price billing and Excel. She loves to travel - especially abroad - and is an avid reader.

Laura started working for Berglund in 2005. She works closely with our accounting team in supervising payroll and billing. Laura works at our corporate headquarters on the south side of Chicago and her favorite part of working at Berglund is the comradery she has with her co-workers.

JoAnna is Berglund's firm-wide Senior Manager of Creative Services. She is responsible for all marketing and design output for Berglund. She is also a photographer and jumps out into the field when photographs are needed for marketing materials and job progress documentation. She has more than 17 years of experience in building brand identity, marketing, print design and visual communication. JoAnna is the lead designer for all RFP responses for Berglund and anything client facing. She is a mom of two girls and loves spending time with her family, seeing live music and traveling.

As Vice President of Safety, Tony has created a culture in which every Berglund employee plays an important role making safety the highest priority in the company. He generates and distributes job-specific safety plans for every project. He conducts both scheduled and impromptu inspections of jobsites, enforcing Berglund's high safety standards among our employees and subcontractors. He is a Certified Master Instructor of OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Training Program, Veteran Outreach Instructor of the 1926 OSHA Construction Standards, Medic First Aid Instructor. He has also completed the Chicagoland Safety Council's 130 Hour and 500 Hour programs. Tony ensures Berglund is compliant with governmental regulations as they relate to safety and health. He is passionate about instructing, teaching, fitness, health and family.
