Jed Donovan's Bio
The two owners, Jed Donovan and Joe Shipley, were both long time employees of Bruce Donovan Construction, Inc. before purchasing the carpentry division from Bruce Donovan in 2006, hence the creation of Donovan-Shipley, LLC. During their terms with Bruce Donovan Construction, Jed and Joe learned the ins and outs of carpentry the right way. They started as laborers and both worked their way up to foreman/project managers. Jed Donovan began his career in construction while in high school, laboring for a masonry company. Later, while earning his degree in Construction Management at Michigan State University he worked as a carpenter for his brother’s company. After graduating in 1995, Jed became an estimator in the commercial construction industry but soon came back to the family business to become a carpentry foreman/project manager. Jed held this position until the change in ownership. During this time, Jed became a licensed builder and also designed and drafted plans for numerous residential homes and additions, a skill he still employs today. Joe Shipley started his construction career as a drywaller right out of high school. In 1996 Joe gained employment at Bruce Donovan Construction as a laborer. Quickly Joe became a standout employee and was soon being trained as a carpenter and eventually to run his own crew. When he became a foreman/project manager he excelled at his job and was soon managing many framing jobs which include multiple 10,000 plus square foot luxury homes, a 14,000 square foot Church and a 30,000 square foot office renovation.
