Gordon Clowers's Bio
Gordon is the General Contractor and energetic hands-on and on-site work force behind Clowers Carpentry, originally an interior finish carpentry business started in 1993 that has grown into a Central Oregon-based custom home building business.
Born and raised in Central Oregon, Gordon hales from the Clowers "clan" that settled the Madras, Oregon farming community several generations ago. A decorated high school gymnastics and wrestling athlete, Gordon is a graduate of Bend High School. An enthusiastic SCUBA diver originally licensed at the age of 11, Gordon joined the United States Navy after high school and toured for four years aboard the USS Recovery as a salvage diver. During his time in the Navy Gordon enjoyed partaking in different cultures and visiting many Mediterranean countries.
After completing his tour of duty and receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Gordon returned to Central Oregon to visit with family and friends. From there he moved to Miami, Florida and managed the shipping department of a popular mail-order windsurfing company... an opportunity that afforded his first foray into building. Seeing a need, Gordon volunteered to connect the company’s separate warehouse storage facility to its sales and office warehouse facility by knocking down walls and creating a structured access/entryway between the two warehouse buildings. In the five years he was with the company Gordon spearheaded all the company’s interior and exterior remodel efforts. The enthusiasm to create solutions and ultimately build took root.
Within a few years Gordon and his wife Kim decided to re-establish themselves in Central Oregon to be closer to family and friends and to begin pursuing the dream of obtaining his General Contractor’s license and creating his own building business. Working with an established builder for one year, and then honing his finish carpentry skills with a well-known interior finish carpenter for two years, Gordon launched his own interior finish carpentry business the following year. Remodeling and building speculative homes while also providing finish carpentry services to Central Oregon builders, Gordon’s interest eventually led to building custom homes for individual clients on a full time basis. Building custom homes and providing the interior finish carpentry for Clowers Carpentry’s homes has been the company’s main interest and focus since 2003.
A lead usher at his church for 10 years, Gordon also served on the Council for five years. Gordon enjoys puttering in his 1-acre backyard that he likes to say is his own personal park, building custom furniture for family and friends, playing with his daughter, taking vacations at the Oregon coast, rock climbing, reading books, laughing and poking fun at anyone and everyone, and riding his Harley-Davidson Fatboy. He takes great pride in being a hands-on builder and strapping on his tool belt to dive into a project with his own special brand of enthusiasm (you have to hear him singing on the job!).

Kim Clowers's Bio
Kim affectionately says she "drives the desk" at Clowers Carpentry because she takes care of everything from answering the phones to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and anything and everything that involves paper and paperwork.
Born and raised for eight years in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Sulfur Springs, Texas, Kim's youth was spent living and traveling with her parents, brothers, and sister all over the United States and Europe after her mother married an Officer in the United States Air Force. She graduated high school from Miami Killian Senior High School in Miami, Florida, then went on to attend Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana, earning scholarships for herself and awards for the university's weekly newspaper during her time as Editor-in-Chief.
After college Kim began pursuing her journalism dreams by writing for a weekly newspaper in Moreno Valley, California. She eventually moved into advertising sales for newspapers in southern California and then southern Florida, coming to settle in Bend, Oregon with her husband Gordon where she worked in advertising sales for a radio station. Pursuing a part-time goal of establishing and building an interior finish carpentry business with Gordon, Kim left radio advertising sales and accepted the Marketing Director and Executive Administrative Assistant position for an equipment and tool rental company with 10 locations in Oregon. While managing the rental company's marketing efforts, Kim also spent nights and weekends "doing the books" for Clowers Carpentry. When Clowers Carpentry eventually grew and incorporated in 2000, Kim went to work for the business full time as the Office Manager.
A love of her husband, daughter, home, and all things Central Oregon, Kim enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading; walking; having lunch with her girlfriends; going to movies; traveling to visit family in Florida, Panama, China, and Italy; and riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She takes great pride in being well organized and giving Clowers Carpentry's clients the very best service and thorough paperwork
