Scope Of Work
DPR was selected as General Contractor to complete tenant improvements for KeraLink International, a company dedicated to reversing corneal blindness through transplantation. DPR’s second project with KeraLink, this project was delivered using a design build delivery method with Perkins+Will.
The build-out of the eye bank includes two Class 100 clean rooms and clinical evaluation space. Outside of the laboratory space are support areas with offices, conference rooms and a kitchen. New MEP infrastructure was installed as part of the scope, including a new roof top unit and a pH Neutralization wastewater treatment system. Additional structural steel was added to the roof structure to carry the new HVAC equipment. An emergency generator powered by propane was added to support critical lab activities in case of power outages.
The construction occurred in an occupied building, which has seen few improvements since the late seventies, and houses tenants below and adjacent to the improvement area. Working in tandem with the owner and architect, the project team completed the job on time and on budget.
