Cox Contractors Inc. was established in 1977 as a one-owner specialty subcontractor specializing in concrete construction of all types. In 1992, the company became bonded in order to provide owners with performance and payment bonds on larger projects. At that time, the company expanded to include prime general contracting. Much of our work has been for industrial, governmental, school districts and commercial customers. Most of our customers have stringent specifications and strong inspection, requiring a high quality of work conducted with tight scheduling. Shift work and overtime work is provided, as the projects require.
Equipment has been added over the years, as projects have required. Presently, our equipment items include backhoes, hydraulic breakers, bobcats, bulldozers, concrete pump, air compressors, dump trucks, jackhammers, tractor, laser instruments, sandblasters, trencher, core drill, pressure washer, Traverse Forklift and a Skid Steer, in addition to normal construction tools and concrete handling and finishing equipment and tools.
The present staff includes two Project Managers, one Assistant Project Manager, two job Superintendents, three foremen capable of running jobs independently, the Owners and a full office staff. Resumes of key personnel are attached. Additional qualified temporary and/or part-time personnel are hired as the need warrants. A Consulting Engineer has been retained to provide technical assistance and services as needed. The crews average a total of twenty-five men divided into three or four crews, with the number in each crew varying, as the projects required.
Cox Contractors Inc. has been both subcontractor and prime contractor on HUD projects and on many school projects. We have completed major projects for the City of Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County and other governmental entities in our area. In addition, we have a standing time and material contract with Stephen F. Austin State University as well as several of the local industrial companies. We strive to maintain good-working relationships with all our customers as well as our subcontractors to assure that each job runs smoothly and efficiently. Cox Contractors Inc. has in place a written safety and hazard communication program that is required training for each employee. All employees are required to wear protective safety equipment and to attend weekly safety meetings. We enforce a drug-free workplace policy and require pre-employment and random drug screening on all employees. We maintain rigid standards and believe our work to be of the highest quality.
Cox Contractors Inc. utilizes in-house software developed by company personnel for estimating, budgeting, scheduling and cost control. We utilize the AutoCAD drafting system to prepare shop drawings and design drawings and details for use in construction. Both project managers and assistant project manager are proficient in this computerized program.
