Scope Of Work

Mortenson is proud to be partnering with Facebook on their newest data center in Eagle Mountain, Utah. The 970,000 square foot facility will be part of the valuable infrastructure that helps bring Facebook apps and services to more than two billion people across the globe. 

The project’s location yields a number of benefits, including access to renewable energy, a strong and reliable electrical grid, and a valuable set of community partners. Facebook and Mortenson are fully committed to creating a world-class experience for the community in Eagle Mountain and the team members on site. Together, they will work towards setting the standard for data centers across the country.

Some key initiatives to highlight include:

Our team is building an electrical substation which will give the City of Eagle Mountain unparalleled access to Utah's existing power grid, supporting future infrastructure and growth.

In partnership with Facebook, we built an alternative access road to direct construction traffic away from City Center and school zones throughout the duration of construction. 

We have partnered with local schools to discuss both construction training and overall general construction support to ultimately educate and grow the local workforce. 

In lieu of depleting the potable water, we tapped into the wastewater facility in Eagle Mountain and were able to use two million gallons / day of grey water to provide construction water for earth work operations. This out-of-the-box thinking helps to preserve a precious natural resource and use another source that was idle.

For the construction team, we are providing first class amenities on site including heated breakroom facilities, climate-controlled restrooms, a gym and many opportunities for team member engagement and community service.  

This new data center will not only be among the most advanced, energy and water-efficient facilities in the world, it will support Facebook in bringing the world closer together.
