Our Story

TST was founded in 2007 by Commander Russell S. Turner, US Navy, retired. CDR Turner started TST after 24 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in the Navy in 1982 and was selected for the Navy’s Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1986. Subsequently, he graduated with honors with a B.S. in Business Administration (Finance) from ODU in 1988. CDR Turner was designated an Unrestricted Naval Aviator in 1989 and received his M.S. in Management Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1995.

CDR Turner served numerous tours as a Helicopter Pilot, flying missions in support of Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, two Air Medals with Combat ‘V’ for Heroic Achievement, five Strike Flight Air Medals, Combat Action Ribbon and numerous others. As a Combatant Commander in support of Special Operations, his forces operated flawlessly and successfully with zero casualties or loss of aircraft.

Though CDR Turner’s 24 years of operational and leadership experience he became an intuitive leader. He became a leader who not only understands the process behind success, but also one who achieves that success safely and without compromise on the stated mission. Throughout his career in the Navy, CDR Turner carried the core values of integrity, pride in workmanship, and perhaps most importantly, family. It is on the shoulders of these core values that CDR Turner built TST from a fledgling two-employee shop, to a multimillion dollar company with over 30 employees from operations from New Mexico to Washington DC. This phenomenal growth, uncommon in the small business arena, was due wholly to CDR Turner’s leadership and experience gained during his military service. With a resolute and uncompromising company mission of service to the military community, TST continues to cultivate its capabilities and dedication to the American soldier.
