DESCRIPTION:
The new facility provides technologically advanced facilities for teaching, learning, research and creation of new forms of communication and collaboration.
Features of the building include cross-disciplinary classrooms, research and seminar space, research institutes, specialized multimedia production teaching labs, and distance learning and teleconferencing facilities.
An expanded student and career services area includes interview rooms and resource centers, production labs and studios, a 300-seat digital theater/auditorium and new digital archive and exhibit space.
The building also includes the new KUT Public Media Studios, an expanded home for public radio station KUT FM (90.5), which provides multimedia production, music libraries, studios, offices, community space, studio, performance and digital networking facilities feature specialized acoustics, air velocity and noise control.
The building was designed and constructed with green building methods and achieved LEED® Gold certification.
