Our Story

Rough Rider Industries is the vocational training arm within the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. We provide incarcerated adults with the necessary job skills, enabling them to successfully reenter society, obtain employment, and contribute as tax-paying citizens. Correctional industries report significant reductions in recidivism rates for adults who participate in these training programs.

Rough Rider Industries produce a variety of quality products using a highly trained staff and offender workforce. Offenders perform most of the manufacturing and in-process inspection operations, and their work is continuously monitored by supervisors and quality control professionals. Rough Rider Industries products meet or exceed many national industry standards and we rely heavily on small businesses within the community and return much of our revenue back to local businesses.
