Our Story
Rachel and I already had three children, and number four was going to arrive soon. It was becoming increasingly clear that my day job simply was not going to meet our financial needs. I, (Craig) along with my wife Rachel had long dreamed of owning and operating our own business. Because of some friends in the roofing business, we knew that there was a genuine opportunity in the commercial roofing world.
When Rachel and I decided we were going to go into the roofing business, we jumped in feet first. I continued to work part time for my employer while distributing brochures and designing mailers to get the word out. I worked closely with my mentor, who had 20 years experience in commercial roof restoration. The early days weren’t easy, but we kept at it, believing that good things were coming.
Having grown up in a family farming business, I got to witness first hand the joys and trials of small business. My father is an Amish Mennonite crop farmer and seed dealer. His emphasis on ethical business practices and attention to quality laid the groundwork for my own business values.
In the first year, we were blessed to get a contract on nearly 47,000 sq ft for a building owner with major roof problems. They had limped along for years with serious leaks in their main manufacturing facility. After every major rain, they needed to sweep large puddles of water out of their building, reducing their efficiency on a frequent basis. Using our metal restoration system, we completely revitalized their roof. Now when it rains cats and dogs, their operations can hum along, uninterrupted.
I realized early on, that the success of our company would revolve around finding and keeping fantastic team members who embrace the vision of our company. Having worked as an employee many years myself, it was important to me that everyone in the company is compensated fairly. Does it cost more? Sure, but when my team is happy, my customers are happy.
I love business. I love meeting clients needs in creative ways. I love working with my team and the challenge of building a passionate and focused organization. And I love that there is no theoretical cap on what we can achieve. We can always get better and better.
We are on a mission to spread abundance. Abundance happens when we do a great job at serving. When I serve my team, and my team serves you, we all win. And here at CLM, we are intent on winning big. We believe there is a need in the Metroplex for a commercial roof company with rock solid values and incredible customer service.
