Adam Holmes's Bio
Adam has always loved to build things. He started with tree forts and a half pipe skateboard ramp (which he’s still very proud of); then at age 13, his father began dropping him off at jobsites to work as a laborer. Construction continues to be his passion, and Adam now has the privilege to say that he’s been involved in more than 60 projects with Vanman Architects and Builders, Inc.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Arts, Finance, Gustavus Adolphus College

Where can we find you when you’re not working?
I am the father
of three boys, so all of my free time is shared with them. I love to
experience the world through their eyes and just be a kid. We spend a
lot of time in the woods; camping, picking mushrooms… anything in
nature is up our alley

Brandt Dinger's Bio
“I didn’t choose a career in construction; construction chose me.” Simply put, there isn’t a single time in Brandt’s life where design and construction weren’t present. Erector Sets and Legos stirred a passion that would take him to architecture school in Europe, and 10+ years of working professionally in Architecture and Construction. On the side, Brandt continues to renovate his parents’ home — whether it needs it or not.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Architecture, North Dakota State University

What do you do in Minnesota when it’s 20 below?
You can usually
find me outside cross country skiing, snowboarding, fishing or
building a snow fort with my kids. I have three very creative and
active girls who seem to share the same ideas and love for the outdoors.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?
Liquid or
frozen, I’ll be on the lake. In winter, my children and I plow an
Olympic sized rink on the lake and skate until it hurts. We also live
on the side of a hill, so we create a luge run that is always a
neighborhood favorite.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favorite
way to spend time on a weekend or a Sunday afternoon?
My free
time is usually spent buried in books – in progress or written by
others. The official number of completed novels by me is close to
five, and some twenty cook on the back burner.
Holly Burley's Bio
From a very young age, Holly has been refusing to clean her room without 2 days to first plan a rearranged layout and organizational system. This affinity led to drafting classes in high school and, despite an aptitude test that suggested Park Ranging, Holly decided to follow her tech ed department’s encouragement and passion for design. In college, she recognized the benefit of a holistic approach to architecture and pursued further knowledge in landscape architecture in addition to studying interior design on her own time. Holly is currently in the process of becoming a licensed architect and is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

He joined Vanman Architects and Builders in 1979 and has since been involved in several hundred projects.

What has been your most inspirational moment?
My most
inspirational moment was when I heard Dr. Robert Schuller say “ if you
are at a job only for a paycheck, you are in a rut, and a rut is
nothing more than a grave with ends kicked out. It takes a lot of guts
to get out of the ruts”. This one statement caused me to quit my
job, which lead me to Vanman.

What would be impossible for you to give up?
Two things would be difficult to give up outside my family.
1. I love to design and build things from architecture, creating a unique piece of furniture or currently making stained glass pieces.
2. Studying western civilization and traveling to where great European buildings, culture and history are to be seen and experienced.
