Truxton started FMC in 1986 as a professional property maintenance service, specializing in commercial janitorial services. Given the competitive business environment at the time, he felt that by developing a cost-effective company whose foundation was built on strong credibility and professionalism with limited geographical coverage, he could take the market by storm.
A graduate in Hotel & Restaurant Administration with a minor in Business from Washington State University, Truxton spent his first three years after college in Operations for Westin Hotels in Southern California. Electing to move back to Seattle, he spent two years with Granada Rentals securing the position of Seattle Regional Manager, prior to embarking on his journey to build FMC. Starting with nothing more than a desire to succeed and a strong work ethic, Truxton worked to sell FMC services during the day, while personally cleaning the accounts he sold during the night. Since he was performing all of the work himself, there were never any quality issues and he could confidently stand behind his efforts. As more customers gave him an opportunity and business increased, Truxton began hiring staff to keep up with the demand, employing the same high standard of quality and hard work with each addition to his team.
Truxton currently resides in the Tacoma area with his wife, Lavonne who owns and manages TL Sea Travel with him. They have two grown daughters who are both employed in corporate roles, one currently working alongside him at FMC.
