Joe Beckenhauer's Bio
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
As President of Beckenhauer Construction, Joe represents the 5th generation of the family business. Like his predecessors, Joe has worked in the business from a young age filling the roles of laborer, carpenter, superintendent, and project manager before becoming the 5th President to lead the firm. His familiarity with all aspects of the business give him great insight into the operations and strengthen his leadership in driving continuous improvements in all aspects of the business. Joe is always looking for ways Beckenhauer Construction can provide the best value to each owner we work with and has shown his commitment to this through developing our firms focus on implementing “Lean” construction practices, which focus on eliminating waste and adding value. Joe visits each of our projects regularly to coach our teams if needed and to assure we are delivering on our commitments to deliver both a quality project and a quality experience, on schedule, and on or under budget for each owner we have the pleasure of working with.
EXPERIENCE
It might be unfair to limit Joe’s industry tenure to just 17 years construction experience, he grew up in the business! Since a very young age Joe has visited Beckenhauer Construction projects and when he was old enough to, he finally got to start performing labor tasks on jobs! After graduating with his BS in Construction Management Joe was able to successfully fulfill the role of superintendent and project manager before taking on the position of president of Beckenhauer Construction. Joe brings the typical strong commitment of his family to every project, customer and stakeholder involved. He actively participates in projects and is one of the most visible Presidents of a construction company you will ever work with, he regularly visits projects and checks in with everyone to make sure all of our commitments are being met. His experience truly encompasses all BCI projects for the last few decades and he brings the strength of that experience to each project.
Lowell Beckenhauer,JR's Bio
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
Lowell provides high-level oversight for our business and sets the direction for Beckenhauer Construction Inc. As the CEO and owner, Lowell visits all of our projects regularly and brings his vast experience in the business to each and every project to assure every owner we work for has the best experience possible from preconstruction on through the projects conclusion and even beyond. He understands the importance of each project for each owner, no matter the size of the project and stands behind everything we do to make sure, given the choice, you would hire the Beckenhauer Construction team again in the future.
EXPERIENCE
Lowell’s experience level is hard to beat, he grew up in the business learning from his father who ran the company before turning the reins over to him 35 years ago. Laboring, laying masonry, carpentry, concrete work, estimating, acting as superintendent & project manager, graduating with his BS in Construction Management and going on to building bridges, churches, educational facilities (k-12 and collegiate), banks, office buildings, warehouses, and private residences barely touches on the experience level someone with 50 years of experience in the business brings to the table. As the CEO of Beckenhauer Construction with literally millions of square feet of projects of all types behind him, Buster enjoys getting out to projects and enlightening all of us with his in-depth knowledge of the business. He stays actively engaged in review of projects in all stages and regularly reaches out to stakeholders to assure their complete satisfaction and delight in the services we are providing.
Estimating, Purchasing & Preconstruction
Ben Fink's Bio
Ben is the head of the Estimating Department. He is knowledgeable of all aspects of the construction process so he is able to begin your project with a conceptual estimate from early conceptual design. As the design advances, these estimates are updated to coincide with the updated drawings and from input on Owner expectations. Using accurate historical data and reliable subcontractors Ben keeps up-to-date on current prices, materials and processes for Electrical, Mechanical and Specialty Subcontractors. Ben’s estimates are consistently accurate starting with the conceptual estimates through completed drawings. Ben has been the head of estimating for us for over 20 years now and his completeness and accuracy are second to none. Ben will bring his expertise from his many years of experience to the benefit of your project.
Ben’s 43 years of construction experience in positions of superintendent, project manager and for the last 19 years, Beckenhauer Constructions Chief Estimator, provide an enormous amount of experience to every project he is involved. He is known for his ability to see what’s not there when going through documents so he can include it in the estimate which allows him to pull together some of the most complete and detailed estimates. His attention to detail and precise manner as well as his depth of industry knowledge truly set him apart in estimating ability. Every project benefits from Bens ability to create industry benchmark accurate estimates.
Bill Barritt's Bio
As Director of Pre-construction, Bill Barritt brings over 20 years of construction experience to the project. During the design phase, Bill will work closely with the Estimating department on the preliminary estimate and constructability issues. He will meet with the Owner and Architect in design meetings to help ensure we are fulfilling the wants and needs of the Owner. He develops and manages the initial project schedule and budget in conjunction with design, project controls, procurement and estimating. Bill helps to develop the scope of work and reviews all bids for subcontractors, vendors and suppliers in conjunction with the Project Manager. After handing off the project to the Project Manager and during construction Bill will stay involved in a point of reference for project information that was identified during design.
Bill’s 20 years construction experience include time working for a national construction firm before joining Beckenhauer Construction 14 years ago. Bill brings his experience having worked as a Project Manager on numerous successful construction projects of over one million square feet in total to the position of Director of Preconstruction. His vast experience and total ownership approach to each project he is involved with adds so much value to the preconstruction process it’s hard to describe. He listens to owners and designers and works diligently to assure their needs are met, with Bill it is personal, he makes sure every project is a huge success and does whatever it takes working with the team to make sure it is!

Austin Funk's Bio
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
As the General Manager for Beckenhauer Construction, Austin Funk brings over 38 years of experience in constructing and providing operational oversight to a wide range of commercialconstruction projects. Austin works on continuous improvements to our policies and procedures that help Beckenhauer Construction provide you with the best possible project. Austin is responsible for oversight of construction operations including general construction activity and may be involved in pre-construction if his expertise is needed. A particular area of focus for Austin is working to support our project team’s efforts to expedite schedules, assure subcontractor adherence to schedule and quality, and utilizing insight born from years of experience to help avoid issues on our projects as well as helping to find solutions to issues that arise. Austin reviews project baseline schedules, monthly schedule updates and the Superintendents six week schedules in conjunction with site visits at least monthly to review progress, and work with the team to expedite project delivery.
EXPERIENCE
With 37 Years of construction experience starting from a craft level position and eventually becoming a vice president for a national construction firm before joining Beckenhauer Construction about 6 years ago Austin brings a rare variety of experience to the general manager role. Some of the highlights of his experience would be his involvement with major sports venues such as the Pepsi Center (home to the NBA Nuggets) or Coors Field (home of the MLB Colorado Rockies) in Denver, the Shell Grand Prix of Denver, multiple high rise construction projects in both Denver, Colorado and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, well over one million square feet of hospital construction projects in Nebraska and Colorado, nearly a million square feet of educational facility projects, well over one million square feet of commercial office construction, many high end condo projects in ski resorts and one of his favorites – setting a cooling tower on a thirty story building in a downtown environment with a helicopter! All of these experiences lend a little something to every project we do and Austin visits all of our projects regularly and is a solid support to all of our teams.
Jeremiah J Callahan's Bio
As Field Operations Manager for Beckenhauer, J. Callahan will brings over 25 years of experience in the construction industry to our projects. J. provides oversight and support to all of our project superintendents enhancing the performance of our teams through his significant project experience. As a member of our company’s Lean Committee, J. works closely with each project team in facilitating pull planning and the last planner system, as well as implementation of other lean construction techniques with the onsite team. J’s experience with large and complex construction projects lends itself to the detailed oriented mindset required for any project he is involved with.
In his 28 years of experience in construction J. Callahan has been involved in construction of Healthcare Facilities, Commercial Office Buildings, Parking Structures, Jails, Amphitheaters, Condominiums, Single Family Custom Residential, Higher Education Facilities, County Courtrooms, Restaurants and more. He has personally been responsible for over 1 million square feet of healthcare projects, and nearly a 1/2 million square feet of commercial office space as well as a one acre Ice skating rink! His vast experience in leading projects ranging from something as small as a single family home to a massive 600 thousand square foot healthcare facility includes projects which received LEED Gold and Platinum certifications! J.’s participation with every project Beckenhauer Construction is involved with brings a vast level of expertise to insure the successful outcome of the project.
