Scope Of Work

St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church began construction of a new brick church patterned after the old St. Gregory’s Church that used to stand as a milestone in Marysville, Kansas prior to it’s demolition in 1975.  Prior to this project, their existing church and parish hall facilities were connected on one site.  To build the new church facility, the existing parish hall building was demolished to make way for the new church while the existing church remained operational.  Upon completion of the new church facility, the existing church was then remodeled to become the parish hall.

The new church is a traditional gothic building with a bell/clock tower and steeple that measures 112′ to the top.  The structure is a pre-engineered metal building with a dark red brick covered facade with light limestone trims and a standing seam metal roofing system.  A new entrance/foyer with similar architectural details is provided at the front of the new parish hall that links to the new church.  Stained glass windows surround the buildings.

Interior finishes include drywall and acoustical plaster ceilings that rise to a 57′ height at the peak in the Nave.  A wood panel wainscot surrounds the Nave.  GFRP tims are included throughout the church.  Flooring includes porcelain tile and terrazzo at the commons areas within the church and resinous flooring in the parish hall, restrooms, and kitchen.  The choir area is carpeted.  Rooms within the new church include the Nave to seat 602 people, narthex, a 550 square foot chapel, an elevator, vesting and working sacristies, reconciliation room, and choir loft.  The parish hall includes a 4,000 square foot hall, 1,000 square foot kitchen, quilting room, bridal dressing room, and new restrooms.
