Mitch Kaelin's Bio
As founder and president, Mitch Kaelin brings more than 30 years of Northern California construction experience to Kaelin Construction, Inc. As a Senior Superintendent with premier Bay Area construction companies such as DPR and Rudolph & Sletten, Mitch discovered his passion for building fast paced, highly technical projects.
As a 20 + year Union Carpenter, Mitch learned all phases of construction on his path to becoming a Senior Superintendent. Mitch mastered the skills of project scheduling and coordination, budget management and quality control while constructing some of the most unique and challenging Bay Area construction projects. Mitch still uses the lessons he learned as a Union Carpenter-- a strong work ethic, careful attention to detail, the importance of quality and the critical necessity of integrity-- in his new role as President and CEO.
Mitch Kaelin, a well-known and well-regarded life science construction expert in the Bay Area, has a long list of extremely successful fast-paced and highly technical projects working in critical environments. With a focus on customer satisfaction Mitch has become a client favorite with companies such as Roche, Exelixis and Genentech. Mitch treasures the relationships and contacts he has developed over the past 30 years among clients, building departments and subcontractors. These relationships, which were built upon trust and experience, allow Mitch to achieve 'minor miracles' on an amazingly regular basis.
As a LEED accredited professional, Mitch has played a significant role in integrating and applying green building philosophies and techniques into the life science projects he has constructed. Recognizing the significance and inevitable role that 'Green Construction' would play within the construction industry, Mitch felt it would be increasingly important to possess the knowledge and experience to provide leadership in the design and implementation of sustainable construction.
After 30 years constructing challenging projects and developing lasting relationships, Mitch started Kaelin Construction in July of 2009. Mitch's goal is to create a construction company that focuses on the client's needs and, most importantly, their satisfaction. Along with the challenges of starting a new company also comes the opportunity to focus on the things that really matter: safety, quality, reliability, personal accountability and most importantly, customer satisfaction.
Mitch is a Bay Area native currently residing in Pleasanton with his wife Lisa and two daughters. Mitch is active in the Pleasanton Girls Softball League having coached his daughters' teams for the past 10 consecutive years. Mitch enjoys hunting, fishing, camping trips with his family and spoiling his daughters in his spare time.
