Scope Of Work

This 245,484-square-foot, five-star hotel features a Spanish/European architectural style and includes 32 luxury suites.

The hotel contains a multitude of different spaces and finish materials. Most rooms feature their own theme and style. Rooms constructed included the library, solarium, smoking lounge, card room, wine cellar, Spanish lounge, harbor master, river bar, fine dining, casual dining, private dining, club room and ballroom.

Scope of work included wood framing, millwork, and stonework. Nine different finish woods were used, including river-recovered pecky cypress, hand-hewn barn timber, curly pine, and teak, as well as 10 different finish stones, including Turkish limestone, and Palm Beach cast stone.

Some architectural features from the historical Cloister Hotel were salvaged and reused in the new hotel. The Spanish lounge was constructed with materials salvaged from the original hotel, including a stained glass and stone surround, fireplace and related surround, and exterior detailed window. Other pieces of the original hotel, such as fireplace mantels, tiled floor, and tiled fountain were used in other parts of the new hotel.

The basement of the new hotel was below the level allowed by FEMA for storm surges, necessitating the installation of a flood gate in the basement exterior wall which can close in the event of a storm.
