Scope Of Work
J. Wayne & Delores Barr Weaver Tower is a 12-story hospital tower that connects to Baptist Hospital and Wolfson Children’s Hospital at Baptist Medical Center. The 339,400-square-foot facility contains 156 patient beds – 48 pediatric beds (24 of which are ICU) and 108 adult beds (12 of which are ICU).
Floors 1, 3 and 4 are dedicated to pediatrics, including a Tim Tebow “Timmy’s Playroom,” and floors 6-10 are dedicated to adult services. All surgery suites are located on the second floor, and the 11th floor houses Lyerly Neurosurgery.
The tower has a total of seven operating suites. There are two hybrid OR’s: An intra-operative mobile CT which services two connecting OR’s, and an intra-operative MRI. There are also five specialty OR’s, including pediatric and adult neurological and cardiovascular OR’s. A 3T diagnostic MRI, also on the second floor, serves both pediatric and adult patients.
The tower also includes the Larry J. Freeman Behavioral Health Center, a day hospital, a progressive care unit, a cardiovascular ICU, an ECMO room, a dialysis unit, and adult and pediatric PACU areas.
Project scope included the renovation of active OR’s and PACU areas in the existing hospital, along with the removal, reconfiguration and reattachment of a pedestrian bridge which spans Interstate 95.
