Scope Of Work
Americold, one of Primus Builders’ long-standing repeat clients, selected Primus to provide design-build services on a renovation and freezer addition to their Salt Lake City cold storage facility. This was a fast-track project that required the team to work closely with the City of Salt Lake Building Department to secure all permits. As a result, Primus completed the first phase of the project (approximately 160,000 SF) in 3.5 months.
Primus worked rigorously with the local power provider to negotiate incentives to pay for upgraded, energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures and an upgraded central ammonia refrigeration system.
This project also featured insulated metal panel work, which Primus self-performed, and a shrink-compensating floor. Primus’s structural engineers developed design solutions to overcome the challenge of new rooftop equipment weights, enabling efficient installation of the new process and mechanical equipment.
