Scope Of Work

123 5th Ave in the 'Ladies Mile' Historic District in Manhattan, had fallen victim to a collision with a NYC cab.

The impact destroyed most of the lower section of the building's Southern ornamental column.  After sustaining the damage the Southern column and the badly corroded Northern column were unable to support the cast iron storefront above.

Forerunner Creations came in and removed the badly corroded and broken North column from the building.  It was disassembled, refurbished and made into a mold worthy pattern.  The new South column was cast from the now repaired North column, assembled and installed.

The quality of work on the lower columns inspired the owner to restore the whole cast iron store front.  All missing and broken elements of this Landmark treasure were recast in aluminum using the original iron artifacts as patterns to ensure exact replication.  The whole cast iron facade was stripped to bare metal, primed, painted and parts gilded using gold leaf.
