Scope Of Work
Project Scope
The Moultrie Courthouse slab repair was conducted on its 20 feet below grade level parking garage. This garage operates 24 hours and it is approximately 82,000 square foot. The repairs of the garage needed to proceed flawlessly and required strict adherence to a schedule that changed daily to accommodate prisoner transfer, arriving judges, and other officials. The safety and security issues related to the project were paramount in the mind of the owner and all construction personnel associated with the project had to go through extensive background checks.
CP&R performed partial depth 3” wall to wall concrete slab repairs. Removal of the deteriorated top surface and preparation was performed using hydrodemolition. Migrating corrosion inhibitor was applied and urethane traffic membrane coating with epoxy vapor barrier coating was installed. All the expansion joints were also replaced. Due to the limited access to the site, CP&R utilized vacuum truck to remove all of the excess water, cement slurry, and concrete debris from the hydrodemolition process. Since ventilation was a major problem, fans were placed to utilize existing vent shafts through the roof. In addition, an industrial air conditioner was brought in to cool down and dehumidify the atmosphere in the garage.
Another obstacle to be overcome was the potential for ground water pressure from the underside of the structural mat slab. Ground water monitoring stations were utilized and emergency pump stations were setup in case of a rise of the ground water level.
CP&R was not only able to successfully complete the project around a schedule that best suited the courthouse needs, but we were also able to overcome schedule conflicts with additional deliveries and in addition to regular traffic.
