Scope Of Work

There’s not a location in the world that is not concerned about water these days, too little, or occasionally, too much. In the Southern Nevada area served by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), the concern is the dropping water level in the area’s primary water source, Lake Mead. With its allocation of water from the lake created by Hoover Dam clearly established, the SNWA is focused on continued delivery of water to its more than 2 million users in the region.

The Lake Mead Intake No. 3 Low Lake Level Pumping Station Project (L3PS Project) addresses that need in its plan to place 34 pumps in newly constructed 500-foot-deep well shafts to feed a new pumping station that will move the water on to treatment and then to consumers. Barnard is provided its multi-discipline expertise to the L3PS Team in the form of a Pre-construction Services contract in which our Team is worked with SNWA’s design team, MW/Hill A Joint Venture, the owner and other stakeholders to produce the best, most straightforward and constructible design for construction of these wells and the pumping station. Design of the above-ground works continued as underground construction progressed. Construction of the pumping station began in January 2017, with all 34 pumps installed by late Summer 2019.
