Scope Of Work

Leadership Public Schools (LPS) is a nonprofit organization that operates public charter high schools in Northern California. To better serve the school’s college prep curriculum, American Modular Systems (AMS) worked closely with project architects to create a 21st century learning environment for the diverse student population at LPS Hayward. AMS reconfigured the Hayward campus into modular flex space that provides a variety of learning experiences and environments, giving students and faculty a place to congregate, collaborate and learn, both in large groups and one-on-one in a small, personalized setting.

The adaptable design creatively integrates high-value elements that make the most of the school’s limited space and budget. An open floorplan provides the large meeting space that the school had been lacking; capable of comfortably accommodating a group of 250, it efficiently downsizes via folding partitions into smaller classrooms, labs, conference rooms and teacher workspaces. Large windows, skylights and a raised 9’ 6” ceiling maximize daylighting, keeping the building bright and airy while saving on energy costs. A parapet roofline, extended overhangs and a custom mix of exterior finishes give the façade a modern, one-of-a-kind look that visually reinforces the school’s innovative curriculum.
