3 Project Sites
The Ceres Unified School District had an aggressive expansion plan—add two new magnet schools and the region’s first dual-language academy to serve the diverse population of the Central San Joaquin Valley. To maximize the district’s limited budget, all three elementary schools were built concurrently, with back-to-back installations overlapping during the summer months. The large project included 84 modular classrooms on three independent sites—22 classrooms for Lucas, 32 classrooms for Beaver and 30 classrooms for Hanline—in addition to administrative space and restroom facilities.
AMS worked with the District and the project architect to create quality, energy-efficient designs for all three schools, combining high-end materials, large windows and superior acoustics to create a bright, quiet and healthy learning environment for students. High efficiency HVAC systems ensured year-round comfort for occupants, while providing significant energy and cost savings for CUSD. Each building featured a custom 3:12 detached roof with a taller, steeper pitch that gave the exteriors a stick-built appearance and allowed high ceilings inside for an expansive, lofty feel. The Lucas site had the added challenge of matching an existing Phase 1 classroom building, with AMS seamlessly integrating designs to give the campus a cohesive look.
