3 Single-Story Project Sites
Three new high performance schools were built simultaneously as part of a District modernization and expansion project to support increased capacity and new technologies for the growing student population in the Belmont . Sustainable and energy-efficient design principles were utilized in all three schools, which were constructed from recycled materials, with large windows and tubular skylights for natural daylighting, high-efficiency HVAC systems for energy savings and superior acoustical treatments for a quieter learning environment. AMS installed new modular classroom wings at the Fox and Nesbit campuses. The Ralston project included large science and art/vocational buildings, each with restrooms and teacher prep areas, plus an afterschool classroom.
It Pays to Go Green
Fox Elementary School has been approved for The California Energy Commission’s High Performance Incentive (HPI) Grant through the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS®) and Division for State Architects (DSA). The HPI Grant offers California schools up to $250,000 for incorporating energy-efficient features and systems in their modernization projects.
