Scope Of Work

Nationally recognized architecture firm Ballinger selected us as their Interior Landscape Consultant for the George Washington University, Science and Engineering complex. This eight story modern research hub is a 500,000 square-foot facility to inspire a new generation of students, faculty, and researchers to work together and push the boundaries of innovation and discovery. Our scope of landscape design encompassed design development, construction documentation, and specifications for eight separate gardens located at orientations North, South, West, and Lower Level within the building. The facility is naturally lit by an expanse of glass windows and research is put on display in glass enclosed laboratories. Our design solutions focused on sustainability and energy efficiency. We began by performing Daylight Analysis generating pin-point numerical values of foot-candles within each space for three times of the year. Each directional orientation was designed with differing specific plant varieties determined from the outcome of our findings.
