Scope Of Work

Domokur Architects has completed a site master plan for the Dublin Arts Center, supported by the City of Dublin Parks and Open Space. Located on the Scioto River in Dublin, Ohio, the site features a historic stone mansion and extensive grounds. The site master plan addressed the needs related to the use this local landmark as an event venue and headquarters for the Arts Council, while maintaining the sensitive historic nature of the building and site.  Implementation is proposed to begin in 2015.

Our site master plan provides for additional programmatic functionality while preserving natural resources and scenic beauty. When the plan is brought to fruition, visitors will first experience a grand entrance. The drive curves through entry gates into an arrival court, with a newly enhanced main entrance to the stone mansion. On the north side of the drive, we have preserved the great lawn along Riverside Drive, which will continue to be used as an outdoor gallery.

To the rear of the house, a new stone terrace steps down to an elliptical lawn space with sweeping views of the Scioto River. The ellipse is capable of accommodating over 200 guests. The ellipse is complemented by an existing outdoor summer kitchen, which will be enhanced with an overhead trellis and patio seating. At the riverfront, our plan calls for a council ring, moveable seating area, and small canoe landing to facilitate use of the site as a stop along the Scioto River water trail. Finally, to the south side of the Arts Center, we have preserved a natural meadow and propose to add a romantic outdoor rotunda structure as a focal point. A quiet picnic area beneath the mature, shady trees is also part of the proposed improvements.
