Scope Of Work
Incorporating Green Design and utilizing a sustainable approach were key guiding principles in developing this year-round facility. In addition to providing much needed specialty classrooms, flexible space for large and small group activities, and a large multi-purpose gathering space, the building and surrounding site development serve as an educational demonstration of environmental responsibility. Carefully placed between areas of significant stress, the lodge takes advantage of wind protection, southern solar exposure and proximity to an existing service drive and wetlands sanitary treatment system. The 6,630 square foot building incorporates a large multi-purpose room with salvaged 200 year-old timber roof trusses, a wonderful art room with an abundance of natural light from sun-pipes, breakout “sun” rooms, a computer lab, and resource center. A geothermal system provides heating and cooling for the building.
