Scope Of Work
The City of San Diego contacted Orion to design and reconstruct two failed large trunk sewer manhole vaults that collapsed in front of Naval Base San Diego, with a pending large sewage spill into the Chollas Creek drainage way imminent. After the sewer vaults had collapsed and the concrete debris began to block the sewage flow under the drainage way. A complex sewer bypass system of large engine-drive pumps and multiple 36” HDPE pipe diverted sewage flow from below the creek drainage system. Once the spill was averted, Orion was able to install new vaults for a permanent solution.
