City-Wide Network
The city was struggling with reliable communications using multiple technologies and services to establish needed technology.  To resolve this issue, a private fiber-optic network was determined the best option.  The network connected key City buildings and departments with reliable high speed communications.  Deploying this network solved several problems with overall reliability and network security.  We worked with City staff to define operational objectives, designed the network, coordinated with City Engineers as well as Bolton & Menk and project manged system across multiple contractors.  Once construction was complete, we tested the network, provided documentation and technical training.  One unique design feature of the fiber network is the custom design of external building locate terminals.  This feature simplifies the locating process increasing accuracy and eliminating the need for locators to access telecom closets.  The City of Hopkins is now enjoying the flexibility and capabilities of the infrastructure accommodating everything from traffic control and SCADA links to VOIP and high speed data.
