Scope Of Work

DESCRIPTION:

Specialized Engineering’s scope of work under this contract is to provide environmental site consulting, geotechnical engineering services, and construction testing and inspection services for school construction projects throughout Loudoun County on an on-call basis.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

Environmental Consulting Services include environmental resource studies.

Geotechnical Engineering Services include feasibility studies; preliminary soils review and classification (including Karst topography); review and development of number of borings, location and depth; soils/site investigations including borings/test pits, soil classification, stratification, and recommendations for soil bearing capacity in accordance with County and Municipal standards; determination of ground water levels; and preparation of geotechnical reports including recommendations for excavation, fill and backfill, cut and fill, and foundation system, pavement, and slab design.

Field Quality Control and Special Inspection Services include soil compaction testing and inspection; subgrade stripping and proof-roll inspection; foundation inspection; reinforcement steel and formwork inspection; concrete placement testing and inspection; spray-applied fireproofing and fire stopping system inspections; asphalt placement testing and inspection; mortar sampling testing and masonry inspection; structural steel and light-gage framing inspection; pre-cast concrete inspection; waterproofing inspection; and EIFS inspection.

Laboratory Testing & Analysis Services include that of concrete cylinder compression; mortar cube and grout cylinder compression; concrete core preparation and compression; concrete block preparation and compression; and concrete mix verification.

The following are project examples Specialized Engineering has been awarded under this contract:

Freedom High School:  This renovation project consists of the construction of four new additions and the associated site preparation, utility excavation and installation.  Also related to the site work as part of the project, there will be a new softball press box, ticket booth and restroom building as well as renovations to the existing dugouts, stadium press box, concession/restroom building and baseball stadium press box. Other site related items include new asphalt pavement areas and installation of new utilities with minor grading.

Loudoun County High School:  This project consists of the construction elements related to the stadium improvements project.  The work will include the placement of a new synthetic turf field and the construction of associated restrooms.  Other site work related to the project will include the placement of new utilities, minor grading and a new asphalt walking surface.
