When Mount Marty University first approached Fiegen Construction about the idea of designing and building a 100-bed residence hall for their increased enrollment, most said it could not be done in time for the 2020 school year. In a complete team effort, this project required a shortened 7-month timeframe during the COVID-19 pandemic and opened on time for the start of school in the fall.
The 24,000 square foot, 3-story wood framed project consisted of dormitory type rooms, lounges, laundry, and a third floor Sanctuary. Weekly on-site meetings, as well as up-to-date construction schedules for all trades made this unlikely project succeed in a way that was beyond the expectations of Mount Marty. Past project successes gave the University its faith in Fiegen Construction to not only build a fast-paced building, but to maintain its high level of quality while doing so on such short notice.
