Scope Of Work

SHP designed a $5.5 Million addition and historic renovation program that blended the main Carnegie library, two past additions and a historic train depot.  The new, community-inspired library serves a population of over 29,000 and creates a high-profile, prominent downtown building to compliment the city’s civic center.

Key features include:

• A grand, two-story space is centrally located and makes a statement with exposed wood trusses and a two-sided fireplace.
• A new coffee shop welcomes patrons and a courtyard, as well as ample lounge space, provides areas for visitors to sit and read.
• The existing library was renovated to provide new children’s, teen and genealogy areas as well as a new computer lab with wireless technology.
• The renovation of the Depot provides much-needed community meeting space.  A combination of two brick tones, as well as both a metal and shingle roof, seamlessly blends the addition with the existing buildings.
