Scope Of Work

This new building will add 35,000 square feet of classrooms, teaching labs, and research labs to the St. Petersburg campus of the University of South Florida.  The project has been designed to meet the strict standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.   It is, in fact, the first building in the USF system to register with LEED, an organization which certifies environmentally responsible buildings.

This project consists of two Temtrol chilled water air handling units being tied into the University’s chilled water plant.  The hot water is supplied by an extremely energy efficient Aerco boiler.  Outside air is monitored with air flow measuring stations, and CO2 sensors that are tied into the building management system.  Variable air volume boxes with hot water reheat coils have over eighty (80) Phoenix Air Control Valves constantly regulating the supply, return, exhaust, and fume exhaust air flows.  The Phoenix Air Control Valves are feed by a galvanized medium pressure system but also incorporate a fully welded stainless steel system associated with fume exhaust valves. This project also incorporates a completely welded stainless steel outside air intake plenum that is over 30 feet long, 30 inches deep, and 5 feet tall.
