Scope Of Work

The Lake Charles Louisiana airport (LCH) – built in 1961 and located midway between Houston, Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana – serves nearly 200,000 area residents. It is a regional hub for Continental and American Airlines, and some offshore oil and gas operations are based there. Over two hundred aircraft, from single engine planes to jet airliners, are based at the field, which handles an average of 143 aircraft operations per day.

When it came time to rehabilitate the main runway, first poured in the late 1950s, efficiency was crucial. The general contractor had a 90-day window to complete the project, and many doubted this could be achieved.

With expertise and professionalism, ATI crews worked seven days a week to cut over 20,000 linear feet at a depth of 12 inches in heavily reinforced concrete. The concrete cutting phase of the project was completed twelve days ahead of schedule, enabling the general contractor to finish the project early and restore the airport to full service by deadline.
