Scope Of Work
Maxim Skylights was tasked with providing skylights on the tallest building in San Francisco, CA. The critical component was meeting Cal-OSHA Fall Protection guidelines for skylights that were to be installed at over 100' above ground level.
Maxim Skylights met the challenge to provide a double dome skylight with two layers of 3/16" 100% impact modified acrylic to meet the fall through protection requirement but also perform at heights where skylights are not often found. The unique part of this project is Maxim Skylights has an ongoing test to insure weathering will not negatively affect the long term performance of the skylights. While accelerated weathering tests are common with thermoplastics, a real world weathering test is not. Maxim Skylights has partnered with CCL Labs of Carrollton, Texas and test specimens remain at their facility to weather in the Texas sun, experience Texas sized hail and even the occasional extreme cold. This is a first for us but is being done to provide the building owner with the confidence that Maxim Skylights was the only choice when extreme performance counts.
