Scope Of Work

Kaiser Permanente nearly tripled in size the Walnut Creek Emergency Department, a key component being the county's first permanent decontamination unit. Brought about in large part to 911, the unit is capable of addressing a major chemical spill or bio-terrorist attack. Located next to the main entrance is a secure, gated triage and prep area for victims requiring drench shower and/or eyewash treatment prior to receiving emergency care. Eight combination shower/eyewash units, including hand-held sprayers, stand ready for large-scale emergencies. The 32,000 square foot department is expected to handle 70,000 patients.
