Scope Of Work

Online retailer Amazon announced in October 2013, that it was going to open a 1.2 million square-foot warehouse fulfillment center, located inside the SouthShore Corporate Park, in Ruskin, Florida. RIPA & Associates, one of the region’s most successful site contractors, had selected Preferred Materials, the largest asphalt paving contractor in Florida, for this important, high-profile project. Within an aggressive, eight month construction schedule, Preferred furnished and installed 112,000 square yards of pavement for the lot, which included 2,575 parking spaces.

This project is a great example of Preferred’s ability to steadily provide large quantities of hot mix asphalt while ensuring large jobs stay on schedule. Additionally, Preferred Materials developed a streamlined truck traffic flow model with RIPA for this Amazon site, designed to shorten the time public access roads would be impacted by material delivery. At Amazon’s Fulfillment Center, the combination of RIPA and Preferred proved to be the right partnership to deliver this complex project’s desired results.
