Scope Of Work
Under a prime contract with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Arrowhead completed a $5.5M firm fixed-price design-build contract for construction of a 12,000 square foot LEED Silver Visitors Center located in Onalaska, Wisconsin. The project was awarded as a competitively bid Task Order under a Regional ID/IQ MATOC.
The project requirements encompassed three, separate structures including a Visitor Center /Headquarters, Maintenance Building, Equipment Storage Building, and a 2-mile network of paved and packed gravel hiking trails that winds through the unique sand prairie. Arrowhead was responsible for all aspects of design and construction. Interior features of the Visitor’s Center includes administrative offices, meeting rooms, public movie theater, and interactive exhibits showcasing the areas diverse wildlife and habitat. The facility also included a large parking area to accommodate commercial buses and RV’s.
Sustainable components of the project included: geothermal HVAC; passive lighting; energy efficient windows; rainwater harvesting/storage for low volume bath fixtures; recycled construction materials; native plant and landscaping design; photovoltaic energy; and regionally produced masonry materials. Arrowhead assembled and integrated a comprehensive design team and utilized over 22 local subcontractors throughout the project.
