Scope Of Work
Advisor Group, one of the largest networks of independent financial broker-dealers in the U.S., recently worked with Willmeng to renovate their Phoenix location at 20 East Thomas Road in Century Link Tower. The 67,000-square-foot office tenant improvement project on the 19th, 20th and 21st floors began in January 2017 and was completed in just 20 weeks.
“The construction schedule was definitely a challenge due to the logistics of the building and size of the project,” said Pablo Sandoval, project manager. “It was critical for us to have people on the team that were familiar not only with the fast-paced nature of tenant improvements, but with the building itself.” Over the last decade, Richard Leon, senior superintendent, has worked on several construction projects at Century Link Tower and proved to be an excellent resource.
“The Willmeng team’s performance on a large project with a severely tight time frame was exceptional,” said Jason Wery, managing principal at Cresa, the project’s construction manager. “The consistent dedication and sacrifices made by their entire team allowed the project to be a success. Willmeng made promises at the onset of the project that were delivered successfully.”
The space consists of interior partitions and modular furniture walls for personal offices and collaborative space, as well as board, conference and training rooms. In addition, the improvement included a coffee bar, mothers’ rooms, break rooms, a studio and common area. New LED lighting, flooring and custom millwork was installed throughout, and restrooms and elevator lobbies were built-out.
“Feedback from Advisor Group employees indicates that they are pleased with the new and improved work environment,” said Sandoval. “Our select group of subcontractors were critical to reaching project milestones and staying productive in the high-rise building.”
The floors showcase special details such as glass walls, wood portals, back painted tempered-glass panels and stainless steel base boards. The coffee bar features an elongated waterfall quartz island, and two conference rooms have eleven-foot barn doors which open up to common space.
In addition to Sandoval and Leon, key team member included Cody Phelan, principal-in-charge; Frank Solis-Alvarez, project engineer; and Zachary Huff, field engineer. Gensler & Associates was the project architect. Willmeng has successfully worked with Cresa on several previous projects, including GlobalTranz, Owens Harkey, Chargepoint, AZ First Title and Ulthera.
