Scope Of Work
The City of Columbia’s 532-car City Center Parking Garage is located in downtown Columbia, SC, at the corner of Taylor and Sumter streets with a beautified pedestrian path to Main and Sumter streets. All adjacent business remained open without incident. Laydown space was limited to the footprint of the building, which encompasses 95% of the site.
Other challenges included: construction of footings over fifteen feet deep adjacent to existing roadways and buildings adjacent to ROW, which included the shoring of Sumter and Taylor Street required for connector installation; the acquisition of dual permitting from SCDOT and City of Columbia required for ROW work; heavy lifting of precast partially performed within street requiring extensive traffic control and partial closures.
