Scope Of Work
Aurora Contractors performed work in the World Trade Center from 1993 through 2001. Due to Aurora’s exceptional performance and reputation for this work, Aurora was designated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) as one of three Design/Build contractors to perform all construction projects within the World Trade Center. This entailed meticulous coordination of all MEP trades, as well as coordinating with the existing tenants and infrastructure. Aurora held contracts for Design/Build offices, as well as constructed fit-outs for retailers such as Warner Brothers Studio Store, Borders Books, Sam Goody, The Limited Stores, Tony May’s Gemelli’s Restaurant, Express, Tony May’s Pasta Break, amongst others.
Aurora began its relationship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) directly after the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. Aurora completed almost all of the retail space reconstruction on the Concourse Level of the World Trade Center and also constructed several restaurants in the Plaza. The Concourse Level remained open to the public during the retail construction and Aurora’s expertise in coordination and management of their projects resulted in additional Design/Build contract work in the World Trade Center.
In 2000, Aurora was contracted to Design/Build the interior renovations for the 43,000 SF of EZPass offices on the 70th floor of WTC #1. Then, tragically, the events of September 11th occurred. Afterwards, the PANYNJ, who held offices on 5 floors of WTC 1 looked to Aurora to assist them in their relocation efforts. Aurora had the opportunity to work on a fit-out of 120,000 SF of office space over four floors located at 255/233 Park Avenue South which was completed in 12 weeks; substantially ahead of schedule.
