Scope Of Work
Square Footage: 115,300 total s.f.
Language Arts & Science Classrooms
Construction of a new, two-story Language Arts classroom building and a new, three-story Upper School building with science laboratories. The Science building also included a commercial kitchen and cafeteria. Additionally, an existing single family residence was converted into the new business administration building, a renovation was performed to the existing library, and several classrooms were renovated and remodeled. This was a phased project performed on the occupied campus, requiring extensive logistical, safety, and schedule planning.
Gymnasium & Science Laboratories
A 12,000 s.f. concrete block gymnasium and a two-story 17,000 s.f. wood frame building containing classrooms, science labs, and gym support facilities. Site conditions played a critical role, limiting construction access and dictating sequencing. The new classroom building and gymnasium were constructed in a valley between two ridges in the Oakland Hills. This was a challenge for the delivery of material, especially the 100’ long steel trusses for the gym. In order to allow a continuous flow of deliveries and maintain safe access for school operations, a temporary access ramp was built by importing over 1500 cubic yards of soil. The ramp served as the main artery for project deliveries and staging.
East Parking Lot Improvements
