Scope Of Work
Since 2017, we have transformed 17 miles of the I-44 Turner Turnpike into a six-lane urban corridor, and this project was the last four miles. This project, located at the west terminal of the Creek Turnpike on the Turner Turnpike coming into Tulsa, added a driving lane and wider shoulders to provide for safer passage as commuters arrive into Tulsa. We placed storm drain pipes and box culverts, and performed earthwork to facilitate an asphalt widening that was used as a detour for traffic during construction and as the base for the ultimate PC concrete pavement driving surface.
Proactive communication with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s management team and designers allowed the project to remain on schedule as the new pavement structure was created atop the existing pavement through horizontal and vertical curves and centerline grade separations approaching six feet.
