Scope Of Work

One of the world’s leading cross-disciplinary research and teaching institutions, the University of Pittsburgh is a tremendous presence within a neighborhood that also includes a Veterans Affairs medical campus, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Carnegie Mellon University, Carlow University, and the business commercial and transit corridors of Fifth and Forbes Avenues. 

To explore parking planning options throughout the campus, and in the busy urban Oakland neighborhood, we developed seven parking site feasibility options. We evaluated vehicle access and operating procedures to provide daily public parking, staff and student permit parking, or a combination thereof. As a result of this study, we:

• Reviewed City of Pittsburgh building and development codes, historical neighborhood requirements, street access and traffic flow, and pedestrian use and walkability
• Provided cost estimates, schedule timelines, and massing diagrams of each option to determine the optimal solution for the community and university
• Assisted the university in identifying the optimal site for a new parking structure near the student field house
