Scope Of Work
The King Street Old – Town Metrorail Station Access Improvement project is to enhance this transportation hub and make a safer walking environment while maintaining efficient levels of service for buses and other transit vehicles accessing the site. This project expands pedestrian access and safety, three new bus bays, increases traffic flow, and designates specific areas for bike, shuttles, Kiss & Ride, taxis, and carshare.
Fort Myer responsibilities include the demolition and reconstruction of the bus loop, the Kiss & Ride parking area, and the adjacent areas at the metro station. The expansion and modification of the bus facilities of the existing lot include construction of sidewalks, roadway, parking, bus shelters, site lighting, and the installation of new stormwater drainage systems.
