Scope Of Work

The DC Power Line Undergrounding initiative (DC PLUG) is a partnership between District Department of Transportation and PEPCO to improve the reliability and resiliency of the District of Columbia energy grid by placing select feeders underground in Wards 3,4, 5, 7, and 8. This initiative, a multi-year program was established after the Mayor’s Power Line Undergrounding Task Force team provided research proving improvements to the DC electric distribution system would enhance its resiliency and reduce power outages caused by storms and heavy winds.

Fort Myer’s responsibilities include removal and disposal of existing roadway pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalks, trees, and milling of existing asphalt pavement. Our team installs PEPCO supplied materials such as PVC and fiberglass conduits, precast and cast-in-place manholes, precast tapholes, precast transformer enclosures, and precast transformer pads. We also furnish and install concrete for ductbank encasement and thermal fill for ductbank encasement at transmission feeder crossings. We perform excavation and backfilling of all utility cuts and provide temporary and permanent restoration of all affected areas due to construction.
